While y'all are out spreading those vegan vibes, I’ve noticed something pop up in the activism circle—it’s a specific question targeting Christians. Y’all are asking, “What kind of God would create animals that can suffer just so we can eat them?” Or a variation on that theme.
I remember using that line when I first started reaching out. It’s a valid question, no doubt, but its impact really depends on what kind of Christian is listening. Most take it as an attack on God and just rush to defend Him, no matter how gently you put it. They see it as a challenge to their faith, maybe even a promotion for atheism. It just drifts us away from the core vegan message.
But there’s a gem buried in that question. It’s about nudging those meat-eating Christians to reckon that their God ain’t about animal cruelty. So, I’ve reshaped it into something that might spark some reflection: ask:
“In Genesis 1, God’s pretty clear about eating plants, which don’t feel pain. That’s why God’s cool with plants as food, right? No suffering there. But now it’s like God’s okay with eating his creatures that can suffer? What’s up with that?”
Did you catch the vibe there? It’s not about questioning God’s ultimate authority; it’s about making them consider God’s stance on animal suffering. It puts the ball in their court, and it ain’t an easy one to defend for a meat-eating Christian.
In the good book—there are a bunch of verses showing God’s love and compassion, even toward animals. Might be cool to keep a few in your pocket, or phone notes, just in case.
Remember, how your questions hit the ears is key. It’s all about the source, man. I’m sending some good vibes your way.
Peace, love and all things groovy!

Genesis chapter 1, verse 29: Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
